Removal of medium-hard deposits in tubes
Flare Brushes incorporate centrifugally activated wire cables with cobalt tips that lightly "whip" around on the inside of tubes removing scale and other medium-hard deposits. Depending on the type of brush you choose, it can have 3 or 5 wires with cobalt tips.
Applications within the industry
Goodway flare brushes can be used for almost any tube cleaning application. Below is a brief summary of the most common applications:
- Reformer tubes of catalyst systems
- Firetubes of a boiler system
- Process heat-exchangers (often found within the petrochemical/process industry).
- Flue Gas Cooler tubes
Cleaning procedure with Flare Brushes
Flare brushes are powered by a Goodway rotary tube cleaning system and (dry or wet) flexible shafts. Depending on the type, these tube cleaning machines can rotate a flexible shaft between 500 and 3000 rpm. Due to these high speeds, the cobalt tips create a lot of friction in the tube. This mechanical action ensures that the deposits can be loosened quickly and effectively.
Use the flare brushes for the correct internal tube diameter for the best results and safe operation. Remember that the cobalt tipsare quite hard, so it is not advised to use these types of tools for softer base metals such as copper-nickel or titanium.
