Nylon Abrasive Brush (NAB-Serie)

For internal tube cleaning from 25 millimeters and up, NAB brushes are a perfect choice. NAB brushes have nylon bristles with a silicon carbide coating, so they not only provide a cleaning, but also a polishing effect. This leads to very effective cleaning with excellent results. The abrasive brushes are always used in oversize, this can be between 5 and 10 millimeters. This means that for cleaning a tube with an internal diameter of 40 millimeters, a brush of 45/50 millimeters is required.

Applications within the industry

NAB brushes are increasingly being used for all kinds of industrial applications, below are a number of examples:

• Shell & Tube heat exchangers
• Firetubes of firetube boilers
• Tubular evaporators in the (food/dairy) industry
• Flue gas coolers
• Reactor tubes of reformer/catalyst systems

Oversized cleaning

NAB brushes are used oversized, this provides 2 major advantages:

• More oversize ensures longer and more intense contact with the tube wall, creating more friction. Due to this higher friction, the cleaning effect will be increasingly better.
• More oversize ensures that these brushes are less susceptible to wear and tear, so that they ultimately have a much longer lifetime. (a brush with a 10 millimeter oversize can, for example, lose 2 millimeters - however it still has 8 millimeters left)

The oversized cleaning effect also means that there is less need to precisely get the exact internal tube diameter. If it is a millimeter larger or smaller, it has virtually no effect on the brush, because it is already 5/10 millimeters larger itself. Especially for larger jobs such as heat exchangers or reactors with several thousand tubes, this can make a huge difference in calculation and cleaning.

Replacement of stainless steel brushes

NAB brushes have several factors that make the brushes very interesting and effective. Some examples are; lifespan, flexibility, cleaning effect and more.

Due to all these factors, the NAB brushes are increasingly being used as a replacement for ''traditional'' stainless steel brushes. This is because stainless steel brushes often have to be tailor-made very precisely, resulting in a very high margin of error. Especially if the diameter turns out to be different at the start of the job.
